    Best Solvents for Leaky Messes?

Depends on what is leaking from said valve.

    Hello from South Carolina

I got lucky with the build quality of the kit I purchased and got a great deal on it too. My A&P and some experience with aircraft wiring allowed me to make the money needed to finish the build. I'm nearing 60 and planning to retire in the next 1-2 years, so I can spend more time at the airport...

    Hello from South Carolina

I met him while taking flying lessons at 3J1 back in 2013. I bought a Cherokee 140 to finish my lessons and learn airplanes (A&P on helicopters) and lease it back to the flight school. After flying in his RV-8, the 140 went up for sale and I found a half done RV-7A kit that I bought and finished...

    Hello from South Carolina

He already built and sold an RV-8 and a Lancair. Then started a Focke-Wulf Fw 190, which is about 3/4 done. Then bought BD-5 and Rutan Long-EZ projects that are slowly coming along. The P-51 has taken precedence the last three years and should be flying within the year.

    Avionics

BNC connectors are not soldered, they are crimped. The crimp tool is relatively inexpensive, as are the BNC connectors, but the tool to strip the coax cost around $50. Without the proper stripper, getting the coax properly stripped is difficult. The stripper linked below will perform all three...

Retired or am I waiting for my second wind?

Do consider an RV model. I love my -7A. It is fast, efficient and fun to fly.

    Avionics

The ground plane affects both xmt and rcv but the antenna does need a good one. I'd suspect an issue with the coax going to the antenna. Was it also moved to the top or did you re-use an existing coax?

    REBUILD IT !

If the wire runs to the airframe, it is a ground and can be removed. There should also be a power wire for the strobe that runs down the vertical stabilizer to the panel.

    Rough engine on take off

Not often but have heard of it happening. Usually resulting in an accident.

    Rough engine on take off

I would guess the mixture control became disconnected due to a cotter pin not being installed, which would have allowed the nut to back off the carb lever.

    Hello from SE Georgia

Hi All, I am also in the SE US (southeast Georgia). I got my start in the Army crewing Blackhawks in the mid to late 80s and finally got my pilot license in 2014. I then built the RV-7A that I fly today. My fulltime job is at at large healthcare company but I also work for Savvy Aviation as an...
