I'm a proud owner of a 1980 Cessna 182RG and I'm starting to think about my engine overhaul options.

I'm not too keen on the dual mag setup and I'd love to upgrade to fuel injection. But it seems like there aren't many options out there besides just overhauling the same old O-540 engine.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

I've heard that the 182RG engine has some unique modifications for the nosewheel retraction, and that, combined with the relatively small production numbers of the RG, might make finding parts more difficult in the future.

I'm curious to know what other RG owners have done with their engines. Have you stuck with the original setup or found a way to upgrade to fuel injection or more horsepower?

I love flying my RG and I'm really hoping to keep it flying for many years to come. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!
