Hey y'all!
I’m planning a full restoration of my dad’s 182Q, super excited, and ofcourse a little nervous! I’m looking into different refinishing methods, like the old-school chemical stripping or maybe something safer, like using PreKote.

Anyone here tackled this kind of thing before? Got any advice on these methods or other cool alternatives? What are the pros and cons of each approach, especially in a tropical climate?

Cool project! Restoring a plane is a lot of work, but it'll be worth it. For the paint, chemical stripping is strong but bad for the environment. PreKote is a safer and more environmentally friendly option, but it might require more preparation work. If you're in a tropical climate, factors like humidity and temperature can accelerate corrosion. Choose a protective coating that is well-suited to your local conditions. It would be better to talk to a restoration expert for the best advice.
