So I've got a bit of a problem with my 182A. After I landed, the nose strut just fully extended and wouldn’t budge back in - like, no matter what I tried - until I hooked up the tow bar. Anyone else ever had this happen? Any idea what’s going on with it? Did I mess something up? Help.

My B model strut also fully extended. Why it took 60 years to happen I don’t know. IA said it was common, he installed a block in between the two linkages to prevent full extension and it is like new again. I know “block” is vague but if you google the issue it will pop up. It’s a metal block about the size of a egg with two bolt holes for mounting.

It may be over pressurized with Nitrogen and under serviced with hydraulic fluid. If it is "bouncy", this would be the case and you'll need to have it properly serviced by an A&P.
