    Cool project! Cadmium plating is good, but be careful 'cause it's kinda toxic. You could try zinc plating or powder coating. I suggest talking to a plane restoration expert for advice. Good luck!

    The fuel flow gauge measures fuel pressure. If the vent line is blocked, the gauge might be wrong. It measures the fuel going into the engine, but only if everything is working correctly.

    AFAIK, 100% cause is the faulty switch. It's causing the voltage to fluctuate, which is messing up the alternator. Replacing the switch should fix it. It's a quick and easy fix.
