I'm planning on restoring an old Cessna A185E and I'm concerned about rust on the steel components. Thinking about cleaning and sanding the parts, then having them cadmium plated for better protection.

Anyone else done something similar or has any advice on the best way to protect these parts?
Is there any guidance from Cessna on this?

Cool project! Cadmium plating is good, but be careful 'cause it's kinda toxic. You could try zinc plating or powder coating. I suggest talking to a plane restoration expert for advice. Good luck!
