Hello!
I'm thinking about getting a Skymaster. I'm worried about the upcoming 5000-hour wing spar inspection. Has anyone had experience with this? What kind of costs and issues are involved? Any advice would be helpful.

The AD says you need to check the spar caps for cracks. This should be done every 5,000 hours for normal planes and 10,000 hours for pressurized ones. After that, it is every 500 hours. For planes used for hard work, such as spotting fish or checking power lines, it should be done every 3,000 hours, followed by every 300 hours.

More info about the AD and who can perform the checks is available online. It will cost a few thousand dollars to conduct the first check. It takes a lot of effort to get to the spar caps.
