Do I Gotta Deal with This Rebalancing Stuff?

I’m deep into restoring a 1979 TR182 and got a little question for y’all. The plane’s in awesome shape, no corrosion, nada - but here’s the thing: do I really need to rebalance the control surfaces after stripping and repainting them? Or can I just slap the paint on and call it a day? What’s the deal?

They probably won't need to be rebalanced because they'll weigh roughly the same. But it is still advisable to have them checked. They might have been slightly off to begin with.

Here is the same question from another Cessna forum that should help. I agree that the balance should be checked; don't assume it was correct before.
