Hi all. I'm from the NE Alabama, SMid TN area, and know there are a few small and one large airport nearby. I've been hanging out when I can near a couple of the small airports. This in so interesting. I've been talking to pilot/owners and asking them about how they started flying. The problem is it is really expensive so I'd have to learn bit by bit.

I like the idea of the Cessna's due to the high wings and being a name I've heard of.

So, what steps should I be taking? And how did you learn to fly?

Locate your nearest EAA Chapter and inquire about the Eagle Flight program. A chapter member will take you on an introductory flight and then help you with making decisions as to where to train, what level of pilot certificate to shoot for, and monitor your progress during your training.
